"Intelligence" (Fall TV Preview)

The return of Josh Holloway Blog exclusive! CBS Television executives, like other network suits, are currently busy ordering pilots for the upcoming fall TV season. One CBS offering that's on my radar is an action/sci-fi show called "Intelligence." While "Intelligence" is a bland title for a show rooted in such a fast paced genre the dullness ends. In reality there's plenty to be excited about starting with the fact that "Lost" alum Josh Holloway is starring in the series. Holloway plays Gabriel, an ex-Special Forces soldier and CIA agent who is selected for an ultra-secret US Government assignment. This assignment requires Gabriel to undergo a procedure that implants a microchip running a program called Clockwork into his cranium. Calling to mind a buffer, less dated version of Keanu Reeves' Johnny Memento, Gabriel is effectively part man, part machine. One Sentence Synopsis and Review "The Talented Mr. Ripley" 1999 3 Stars Synopsis: When Tom Ripley (Matt Damon) receives the offer of a lifetime -- an all expenses paid trip to Italy to retrieve Dickie Greenleaf (Jude Law), the free-spirit son of a wealthy shipbuilder -- he accepts despite knowing full well that he will never make good on the offer and instead plan's to assume Dickie's identity. Review: Ripley's "friendship" with Greenleaf is erratic because at any moment they are either fighting or getting along just fine, yet this isn't the thing in "Ripley" that stands out because John Seale's cinematography, beautiful and devastating, makes the viewer forget about the film's meandering plot (riff with murder, music, bewilderment) a bit more tolerable.
